NATURAL SCIENCE EXPERIMENT. Unit 7.-

Our school mate Julia (P3C) sends us this SUPER EXPERIMENT.

You can learn about everything in this unit:

A.- States of matter.                         D.- How to separate mixtures.

B.- Materials.                                    E.- Physical changes.

C.- Mixtures.                                    F.- Chemical changes.

STEPS.-

1.- Salt is solid, in a pot. Water is solid in a glass. (A). Pour 5 spoons of salt in a glass with water, making a mixture (C) with these two materials (B).

2.-  Stir water and salt...
Salt doesn't change into 'liquid' state, but you can't see it in the mixture.

3.- Tie a string to a pencil, tie a clip and put it into the water. Put the pencil over the glass with the string pending.

4.- After a few days, salt 'climbs' through the string and you can see it again, as a solid (E).
The water evaporates from the glass (E).
This is a physical method of separating water and salt (D).

5.- The clip rusts (F) into the water.

Thanks a lot Julia!
