This activity is for learning more about THERMAL energy.

You know some materials are good conductors of heat.

This means that heat energy can travel through them easily.

1) Marcos (P3B), did the experiment going through the steps. He was very careful and didn't touch the hot water... as it can burn his hand.

He has observed the butter on the metal spoon melting first and he could watch the bean -he used chickpeas- fall into the water.

2) Paula (P3C) wrote the materials of spoons in her notebook and made predictions about what was going to happen with butter and bean on each spoon.

She learned:

- The heat from the water travelled faster through the metal spoon.

- Plastic and wooden spoons do not conduct heat well.

- Heat travels through the air, not only through spoons, and it heated butter on the other spoons.

- Spoons should be the same lenth (and mass?) to compare.
